back in Hawaii

I just arrived back in Hawaii on the 26th and instead of being in Kona, (on the west side of the island), I'm currently on the north end at the Makapala Retreat Center. Being here for the last few days has been incredible. We have had teachings on the history of this region and the history of missions in Hawaii. We have been welcomed onto the Aina (land) in the traditional protocol. We were given a blessing by the Native Hawaiians as well which was very honoring. It's essential for us to remember those who have come before us on this land, as we learn and grow here.

We are very disconnected from the "outside world" here because we are in a more remote location and there is very little service up here. It's been great to wake up early and be able to watch the sunrise while reading the Bible with no distractions. We are living in a large room with 25 other girls which is crazy! It's such a great place to grow with each other and the Lord. At the same time, it's also a very stretching time to learn to work with each other and work through our differences.

I will try and give as many updates as I can but with the spotty service, it will be hard to tell how much I'll be able to update! Much love goes out to you all!
